Whatsapp continues to work on Android 2.0 and 2.1 devices as it has been found that the platform has extended it's discontinuation date to 2020, this has been noticed just after Whatsapp announced it would continue support for Blackberry, Java and Symbian S40 mobile phones till the end of 2017.
Now the question comes, "Would Whatsapp ever stop working on any of the devices as it announced on Feb 2016?" That is a question that is yet to be answered because we really can not imagine Mark Zuckerberg not keeping to his claims and threats.
Though this may be good news to those still using those versions of android, it doesn't give you a go ahead not to upgrade to newer Android versions when the cash becomes available.
This is because the newer versions are more optimized and have better features than first.
